The Grand Priory of Canada
Founding
After the death of the previous international Grand Master His Excellency M. Gérard Shanks in 2009, there was a 2 year period where activities where almost non existent. Dr. André St-Jean was Grand Master by interim in the meantime, until the foundation of a group in Quebec. That group, founded by Major Jacques Labrecque, was later called the Priory of Quebec, after his nomination as Priof of the Order on March 17, 2002 by Arcbishop Herma Mikhail, the newly installed Grand Master of the Order. After that, the Priory's activities where increasing grealty. The Priory then changed its status as Grand Priory of Canada, since the majority of the members of the Order are from Canada (mostly Quebec in fact). Major Jacques Labrecque then became Grand Prior of Canada, as there are members of the Order from everywhere in Canada.
Canadian structure
For the moment, the Grand Priory of Canada has a sole Priory: the Priory of Quebec. However, the Order has several members throughout Canada (it is notable that it is in Canada that there is the most members). Therefore, it is highly probable to witness the foundation of other Priories or Commandries in other provinces.
Priory of Quebec
The actual Prior of Quebec is Mr. Jean Pellerin. The Priory of Quebec is the organization comprising the most members of the Order.
Other fees
The Order and the Order of Merit both use the same mantles and buttons. The mantle is not mandatory for the Squire / Donat and Knigth / Noble Dame ranks, but is highly recommended for higher levels.
